Senior Mixed League

The Senior Mixed League (SML) provides a full season of competitive games and socialization opportunities for curlers age 50 and over. Curlers can play on Monday, Wednesday and/ or Friday mornings. Those who travel in winter can play Monday afternoons and/or Friday mornings from the end of September to December.

All SML registrations will be done online. The SML will NOT accept cheques on the first day of curling.

Registrations for all leagues will be for individuals only for the 2023-24 season.

Friday Winter registration will take place in December 2023. Friday Fall players will have first dibs on the spots for the Winter league.

We are accepting curlers to our wailist for all leagues and our Senior Spare List.

If you are unable to curl on a regular basis but would like to spare for any of these leagues that is another option that is available to you.

If you cannot make your scheduled game, please conact the Spare Captain for your league:

5 ROCK RULE

Under the five-rock rule, teams are not permitted to eliminate their opponent’s rocks that are sitting in the Free Guard Zone (FGZ) until five stones have been played in every end. Players can still hit the guards; they just aren’t allowed to knock them out of play. Players can remove their own rocks from the FGZ. This is a change from the 2017/18 season rules in that the free guard zone was only in effect for the first four stones (four-rock rule).

The Free Guard Zone is the area after the hog line, but before the house. The rocks in this area are in play, but cannot score unless advanced into the house. The idea is to keep more rocks in play and increase scoring opportunities.
